About Ayanna Khan-Flowers

Ayanna Khan-Flowers is a community advocate, entrepreneur, nonprofit leader, and proud resident of the MOT community who has spent the past 15 years serving the people of Middletown, Odessa, and Townsend.

After raising her children in the Appoquinimink School District, Ayanna made it her life's work to strengthen the community she calls home. Her children attended public schools in the MOT area, giving her firsthand experience with the opportunities and challenges facing local families.

Throughout her career, Ayanna has worked alongside nonprofits, Appo School District, small businesses, and community organizations to secure funding, build partnerships, and create lasting impact. She began her community service with Middletown Main Street, Inc. as an intern and volunteer, later serving on its Board of Directors and helping secure funding for community initiatives. She secured funding for the Everett Theatre for building improvements, worked with the Middletown Rotary Club to help secure funding for the Can-Do Playground on Levels Road, and supported efforts to secure funding before the opening of Odessa High School.

As the Founder, President, and CEO of the Delaware Black Chamber of Commerce, Ayanna has helped hundreds of entrepreneurs and small businesses access millions of dollars in capital, expand opportunities for small and minority-owned businesses, and advocate for policies that strengthen Delaware's economy. Her work has taken her from neighborhood meetings to Legislative Hall, where she continues to advocate for practical solutions that improve the lives of Delaware families.

Ayanna is running for State Representative because she believes District 9 deserves accessible, responsive, accountable, and community-focused leadership. After knocking on more than 1,000 doors, she has listened to residents' concerns about the rising cost of living, high energy bills, increasing property taxes, affordable housing, quality education, public safety, and protecting Delaware's quality of life. She is committed to bringing those voices to Dover and working across the aisle to deliver real results.

Ayanna holds a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Park University and a Master's degree in Human Services from Wilmington University. She is also the founder of Khan Consulting LLC and serves on several committees and boards.

Ayanna lives in the MOT community with her husband, Staff Sergeant Jerry Flowers Jr., and children and together they remain committed to serving Delaware through community involvement and public service.
